Lost Glasses

Even birdies misplace their glasses.  I realised one of the birds didn't have their glasses on.  I scoured the craft room and couldn't find them.  I searched and searched, but no glasses, so I made another pair.  When I went to Can Do Books last week Stephanie asked if I had lost something, the glasses.  So now either the birdies have a spare pair, or I will just have to make something else to wear them.

Little Doggie

I made one of the dogs I bought at the craft show.  The pattern is by Kerry Lord of Edward's Menagerie.  Not sure mine looks like a Westie, although the side view is closer.  He is still a cute, scruffy little white dog.

Craft Show

I went to the Craft Show yesterday and look who I met, Carlos and Arne, the guys who designed the little birdies, and lots of other things.  They are lovely and generous men.  Here at the show to promote a collaboration they have with Clickheaton.
I came home with a bit of a bag full too.  I had a very nice morning.

Reindeer in a Jumper

I wanted to put a felt reindeer in a knitted jumper, but I'm not sure it works.  He looks like he is down on his luck.

Birdies in the Window

The little birds I made from the book by Arne and Carlos, A Field Guide to Knitted Birds are now in the window at Can Do Books.  Arne and Carlos are going to be at the Stitches and Craft show this week in Melbourne.  This isn't a large display in the window, , but like all bird watching, once you spot them, you can't take your eyes off.

Knitted Square Reindeer

I think I showed the little squares while I was making this reindeer, but not when he was finished.  Each little square has a french knot in the middle.  He just needed two scarves, one of each colour.

Tiny Reindeer

I like to make things in all sizes.  I have tried to make a crocheted reindeer in a small size, but wasn't happy with the results.  This one is a little cutie.  He is very small next to the Reno Reindeer.

Wallace and Gromit

Went to the Wallace and Gromit exhibition at acmi.  Great exhibition, lots of drawings and sets.  The detail is amazing.   Few characters missing, Bitzer and the Farmer.  Not a lot of Shawn the Sheep, but a couple of things from the movie.  Worth visiting if you are in Melbourne and a fan.

Reindeer on a Pocket

I showed this reindeer I made one time at Amigurumi at Can Do Books, I just didn't show what the reindeer was going onto.  This cream reindeer has a little pocket with a little reindeer on it.

Renovations and Knitter

Very little crafting done yesterday, was working on the bathroom renovation.  Removed more tiles, the cabinet, mirror and sink.  All that is left is the shower.
Something crafty that did arrive yesterday was an automatic knitter that I bought on Ebay for $5.  It will come in very handy at the Christmas Window Sit & Stitch.

Lawyer"s Wig

I was asked for the pattern for the lawyer's wig I made for Amigurumi Girl.  I didn't write down anything at the time because I thought she would be a one off thing.  So I have been making another wig and writing as I go.  I used the head of a larger reindeer, minus ears and antlers for the size.  The doll being made was about the same.  The wig has a crochet base and then loops sewn.

New Printer

We got a new printer.  It's a HP and a lot larger than all our other printers.   It can do A3 size paper, which is great, I often like to upsize patterns.  The down side is that we had to remove a shelf to accommodate it, which had books on it, luckily there was still lots of room on the new bookshelf.

Seventh Little Birdie

And the last one for now.  Bit of a flying ace this one, with his goggles, messenger bag, scarf, and precision do.

Sixth Little Birdie

I am going to make seven little birds, I like odd numbers.  This one is in red and cream.

A Bit of Reindeer Bling

This reindeer is a bit larger than the felt A3 pattern.  It needed to be bigger to accommodate the large blingy belt buckle I found at Spotlight.

Pom Pom Maker

There is an old fashioned way of making pom poms, two pieces of cardboard, and now there are little gadgets to make pom poms.  Use one of these little gadgets and you will never look back.  Very quick and easy to make a pom pom.  They come in a variety of sizes so when you are making a small pom pom you are not chopping away a lot of yarn.

The pom pom maker comes in two halves, push them together and open the arm (white bits).  Start wrapping yarn in the half circle section on one side only, until it is full, close that arm and fill the half circle section on the other arm, close it.

Keeping the arms closed, cut the yarn.  There is a slot where your scissors will fit, you need small sharp scissors for this.  Tie off your pom pom by putting thread or yarn around the middle, where the scissors cut, make a double knot nice and tight.

Open the arms of the pom pom maker, separate the two halves and release the pom pom.  It comes out slightly oval, but all pom pom need a trim.

Cut into a lovely ball shape and attach to your hat, or whatever.

Bookends & More

Had a lovely day yesterday on Mothers Day.  We went for a drive to Geelong for some lunch and a rummage around a 2nd Hand/Antiques place. ...
